Anna Volkov
Editor in Chief - ex-Chainalysis Senior Analyst 2018-2022 (Crypto AML + government cases) + ex-Coinbase Compliance Senior 2022-2024 (SEC/CFTC liaison)
Background
I am Anna Volkov, founder and Editor in Chief of Crypto Frontline. I spent eight years at the intersection of on-chain forensic analytics and crypto regulatory compliance before going independent in 2025. Four years at Chainalysis as a Senior Analyst (2018-2022) on crypto AML and government investigation casework, followed by two and a half years at Coinbase Compliance as Senior on SEC/CFTC liaison (2022-2024).
I hold a JD from Columbia Law School (2018) with a Securities Law focus, and the Certified Bitcoin Professional designation from the CryptoCurrency Certification Consortium. I am based in Lower Manhattan, New York.
Editorial voice
Crypto Frontline is influenced by Matt Levine Money Stuff (regulatory rigor for crypto, dispassionate), Coin Center policy briefs (policy clarity for non-lawyers), Glassnode Insights (on-chain methodology discipline), and The Block Pro (institutional voice). I write for compliance officers at exchanges and asset managers, institutional crypto desks, fund managers, and securities counsel covering crypto.
Every analysis opens with a one-line provocative thesis, supported inline by an on-chain data or regulatory chart, then a 3-data-point summary box. Sources are cited inline and numbered in a bibliography at the end. Each piece closes with a Verdict box: what it means for compliance, institutional desks, treasury.
Editorial independence and strict blacklist
Crypto Frontline accepts no paid placements. Strict blacklist on trading bots, yield farming high-APY, ICO/IDO, and non MiCA/SEC-licensed platforms. Occasional regulated exchange mentions (Kraken EU, Coinbase International, Bitstamp EU, Bitpanda Vienna) or hardware wallet mentions (Ledger, Trezor) are disclosed inline at the point of mention when the analysis context requires it. There is no primary affiliate model. Revenue comes from guest post sales transparent on the methodology page.
Sources policy
All citations link to primary sources: SEC EDGAR filings (S-1, 10-K, 13F, Form D, 8-K), MiCA Final Rules (Regulation EU 2023/1114), BaFin guidance, AMF rulings, FinCEN guidance, IRS Notice 2014-21 and successors, plus on-chain raw data from Glassnode, Nansen, Chainalysis. Secondary aggregation (TechCrunch reporting on a 13F, CoinDesk summarizing an SEC complaint, Decrypt covering a BaFin bulletin) is never cited - Crypto Frontline goes back to the primary regulator or analytics provider.
